| |  | A Family Business Since 1851... | |  | | Jackson’s Bakery is part of the William Jackson & Son Group of Companies The Great Exhibition of 1851, housed in Hyde Park's dazzling 'Crystal Palace' was in full swing when a young farmer's son from Holderness in the East Riding of Yorkshire celebrated his marriage by opening a small grocers shop in Scale Lane, Hull. The young man's name was William Jackson, and now a century and a half later the business he founded still bears his name. William Jackson applied himself diligently to his business affairs and further branches were opened by him in the city of Hull. 
In 1888 a new branch at Spring Bank was opened in conjunction with William's son George, and it was here that the company's first bakery was established. George inherited his father's energy and business acumen, and the firm continued to prosper under his leadership. The scope of activities steadily widened and in 1904 a private limited company, William Jackson & Son Ltd, was incorporated to handle all future affairs. The group has come a long way ... and is unusual in being a family business which has been passed down sucessfully from the founder to the fifth generation. Our present Chairman and Joint Managing Director, Christopher Oughtred, is the great grandson of William Jackson. Our aim is to have a business to be proud of, one that can be taken forward so that a reputable and successful company will be available for future generations. This is a business with a turnover approaching £20m, employing approximately 230 people and is based at Chicksands, near Shefford in Bedfordshire. Parripak provides fresh prepared vagetables to food manufacturers and food service customers. The business started in 1987 as part of a farm diversification business and has progressed steadily and profitably since then. Being a family business Parripak displays highly complementary values to Jackson's. Kwoks Kwoks is a relatively new company based in Grimsby with the vision "to become Europe's best oriental food company ... by providing authentic, exciting and convenient food of the quality that you would find in the best restaurant". Kwoks founders are passionate about food quality and there are no genetically modified ingredients (GMO's) in any Kwoks product. Kwoks use top quality Bouillions which are natural authentic concentrated flavours - they don't use Monosodium Glutenate (MSG) which is the salty flavour enhancer which is used in a lot of Chinese takeaways. The head chef of Kwoks is Chinese restauranteur, Paul Kwok, who works closely with the production team leader and about 25 partner chefs in their state of the art factory treating it like a restaurant kitchen - that's what it really is, producing probably the greatest oriental food in Europe. In January 2004 our new purpose built factory in Grimsby was opened by Tony De Nunzio, chief executive of ASDA/Walmart. The factory now extends to 35000 square feet and provides the perfect platform to enable Kwoks to fulfil its objective to be Europe’s best oriental food company.
