We have recently changed the layout of the site, improving many aspects of the buildings and replaced almost all of the main pieces of equipment in the bakery.
The plant was designed to ensure the consistency of product that our customers need to fulfill the requirments of their own customers and consumers. The plant is the only one in the UK to focus exclusively on the needs of sandwich makers.
Our bakery in Hull produces over a million loaves a week which equates to over 9 million sandwiches.
Distribution Chain
Jackson’s can offer a range of distribution options to provide a tailored service to meet your needs and those of your customers;
Our own fleet of vehicles can deliver fresh bread to your premises everyday. We have established relationships with a number of distribution partners who can provide delivery of Frozen product to any destination in the UK and across Europe. You can of course organize your own transport, maybe to fit in with other deliveries and collections you may be making, to collect bread directly from the bakery.
Frozen Bread
At Jackson’s we believe that properly handled, bread can be frozen and defrosted without any noticeable deterioration in quality.
The bread must be frozen quickly to ensure that it passes through the ‘staling- point’ as quickly as possible. To achieve this Jackson’s have on-site blast freezing facilities to reduce to an absolute minimum the time between baking and freezing. The bread needs to frozen separately to ensure an even freeze is achieved as quickly as possible. Some bakeries freeze product after it has been cased, or even palleted. It will obviously take considerably longer for the core temperature of a case or pallet to reach ‘freezing point’ and quality is compromised if the bread is frozen slowly in this way. We can give advice on defrosting bread to ensure it comes out of the freezing process in perfect condition. We have invested in a ‘Texture Analyser’ to study the ultimate properties of bread handled via different supply chains.
